Dr. Abbasi is an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary, specializing in microwave planar sensing structures for applications ranging from harsh environmental sensing to non-invasive medical devices. She is a Ph.D. graduate from the University of Alberta and former Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo.
She serves as chair (MTT-S) in the IEEE Southern Alberta Antennas and Propagation Society (AP), Microwave Theory & Techniques Society (MTT), Communications Society (COM) chapter, actively contributing to community services. Outside academia, Zahra explores topics on productivity and mental health, and enjoys home cooking and watercolor painting.
