Graduate Student Opportunities at the Calgary Sensor Lab

The Calgary Sensor Lab at the University of Calgary is currently seeking highly motivated individuals for graduate student positions (MSc or PhD) in the areas of RF/microwave sensor and system development. These positions are especially suited for applications of electromagnetics in precision agriculture and biomedical engineering fields.


Research Focus Areas: We are looking for candidates with a strong background in any of the following areas:

  • RF/microwave circuit simulation and design
  • Sensor design and implementation
  • Biomedical applications of electromagnetics
  • Electromagnetic solutions in precision agriculture and food security
  • Electromagnetic applications in communications
  • Antenna technology


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing, simulating, fabricating, and characterizing antennas and microwave circuits is highly desirable.

Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunities at the Calgary Sensor Lab

The Calgary Sensor Laboratory is currently looking for a post-doctoral research fellow in the area of applied electromagnetics to work on research topics related to the next generation of chipless RF/microwave sensors. 


Desired qualifications include:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (or related fields) with emphasis on Applied Electromagnetics or Microwaves.
  • Extensive experience with the design, fabrication, and characterization of antennas and microwave circuits.
  • Familiarity with modeling, simulation, fabrication, and measurement of antennas and microwave circuits.
